Synesthesia - Can you hear the color yellow?

Synesthesia is a condition in which one sense (for example, hearing) is simultaneously perceived as if by one or more additional senses such as sight. Another form of synesthesia joins objects such as letters, shapes, numbers or people's names with a sensory perception such as smell, color or flavor. The word synesthesia comes from two Greek words, syn (together) and aisthesis (perception). Therefore, synesthesia literally means "joined perception."

Like anything in this world, there are both good and bad effects of most anything we experience or come in contact with. Everything has it's place as long as it's in balance and harmony. As a musician with a creative identiy, I truly believe this 'condition' of synesthesia is what gives me a supernatual ability to create and enjoy music. I think people can have this in different ways to varying degrees. Mine seems to be generated by sound and will paint subconscious pictures and images in mind. I have a built in stereo/mp3 player in my head and will wake up quite often to a dream where I am listening to a song and picturing myself playing or singing it or watching some event take place. As I get older it doesn't seem to be as intense and that could just be a result of my brain getting clouded with the everyday clutter of this world.

This blog will be place where I can share comments and reflections of music, worship, art, and anything else that pushes my creative buttons. Rock on!
